Artist's Comments

This is another one of Patti F's amazing wolfdogs. I really wish I could remember his name, but for now I think the picture says it all. You don't often see wolfdogs (aka wolf hybrids) depicted as having a gentle side. I can't think of any well known pictures involving toys. While I'm not likely to ever be that well known as a photographer I'll still do my best to show the hidden side that people don't often get to see for these misunderstood animals.

I have a question about the wolfdogs- when you work with them, do you interact with them like one would a pet, or like a wild animal (like a falconer and their bird)?

I love how you show the sweeter sides of these guys. It's sad how they are always viewed as mean/dangerous animals.

I guess it's a good thing I've never viewed them as mean or dangerous. Yes they're part wolf and as such shouldn't be handled the exact same way as a regular dog but it's called a healthy dose of respect. I've just always thought of them as beautiful creatures to be respected.

Yeah, the sad thing is people in general don't tend have respect for much these days. Not even each other =\

We interact with them like with a pet (this isn't always the norm for wolfdog folks), but with more thought given to how our behaviors affect them and how what they are doing as a group may affect us. For example...if there's a negative dynamic in the pack regarding a pack member. Gurty is now separated from the pack to prevent more damage to her as well as continuing to amp up B's aggressive tendencies.
